Floundering About? Read This!

I don’t know about you but 2020 was extremely eye opening for me. I have determined to make 2021 a different year for me, a better year. I want to gain a little more control in every aspect of my life…

My health, money, relationships with my loved ones, and day to day decisions. I cannot stand when things are out of control in my life. I am not naive, I know things will spiral a little, but even then I believe, with better planning, the spiral will be less intense and the time lost will be minimal.

I have always been goal oriented and a planner…

I budget everything, make a list for every event/trip, I even keep a daily to do list that I will write out the night before so I can see what needs to be done the next day and I can hit the ground running.

Mediocre To Do List

In January, I aggressively started on this path of self development, seeing what I can learn and do to improve myself by using my spare time constructively, to educate myself through programs, online courses, and books. Of course, I have written out a list of goals for the year and every day, on my to do list, there are a few things that I want to do everyday to move toward those goals. I have been doing this for over 30 years. Well, I was working on a course about being clear on your goals and plans, and I found out I have been doing it wrong. For over 30 years! 😩 My list isn’t bad for minor things but for big goals and ideas, I need to change what I am doing so I can track my progress better.

I recently took a course called, “How to get crystal clear on your goals and plans” by Brandon Hakim. He introduces a new way to organize your big goals and track your progress on a daily basis. In the following order, you are to write out your big goal for the year. Under that write down your deadline, every project needs a deadline. A deadline gives you incentive, a challenge, and a stopping point. Then I am suppose to write out what I want to get done that day, just one thing, in detail. At the end of the day, I am to log what I did get done…

Not what I didn’t get done. You don’t want to be negative toward yourself, this could cause adverse effects. I am also suppose to write out the step by step process to achieve that goal for the day and also jot down the time block I will spend on that goal. Last there is a section to reflect on why you didn’t get done, that day, what you had planned. This will help you see where you can improve the next day.

We all do this in our heads, but I really like this idea of writing it down because it makes it a lot easier to see where the error was. And what you need to fix to move closer to your goal the next day.

I am going to apply this method in all areas of my life. For instance, I write out a menu every week. I used to list breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks for 7 days at a time. After doing the keto lifestyle for so long, I now only list dinners during the week and then breakfast and dinner for the weekend. After listening to the course, I believe, following this method to build my weekly eating and exercise plan will be more effective. I also agree with the instructor , that taking it one step further and assigning a time block to any activity will also be quite effective. I’m going to implement that as well and let you know how it goes.

Better Menu. Get detailed, quantities, amounts and times

I thrive on a schedule. Loosey goosey, isn’t my style. Don’t get me wrong, I like to lay back and play like anyone else. But I know if there is something I want to achieve, I need a very structured day. Otherwise, I am just floundering through my day, my day turns into weeks, my weeks into months, and my months into a year. I am tired of looking back at the end of the year and wondering what I did with all that time. Using this method, even if I don’t achieve everything I wanted, I know I will be a better person at the end of the year.

Yes, it is already April, but it is never too late to start. Anything we do, over the next 8 months, will make us better than what we were 4 months ago, yesterday, and even today.

Let’s transform together,

“Yesterday doesn’t exist tomorrow” ~ ME

Do you ever feel like you can’t get a reign on things? Things are just a little out of control? Things are a little scattered? The truth about that statement above is today, yesterday is yesterday. Tomorrow, it will just be the day before. Time passes quickly, some days faster than other days. But once it’s gone, it’s gone forever. And it happens under our noses.

I could easily spin out of control but I use lists to keep me grounded and focused. My lifestyle demands that I be more organized than your average person and now starting a home based business, I am going to have to step up my game. There are certain things/habits I do to keep me on track to be productive. Some of these things I have been doing for years and others I have developed over time.

Making a list is priority. I cannot start my day without one. In fact, the night before, I will write out my to do list for the following day. If I don’t have a list, I won’t remember what I am suppose to get done. If my list winds up being too general, then I will break the goal down into smaller steps. If I find that a smaller step is still too vague then I will break the chore down to micro steps. Find the level you can work at comfortably without causing excessive stress. If you get too overwhelmed, you will crash emotionally and even worse, possibly quit all together.

My lists are very detailed. This enables me to see how productive I was for the day. If I do something unplanned, I will write it on my list after I had completed the task.

Actually, I now have two lists now: Personal and Business. Here is a sample of what I put on my lists:

To Do List

I treat my business list a little different. I will isolate three goals. I absolutely want to get done that day. That will be where I start. If I get nothing else done but those three items, then it was a GREAT day and I still moved forward, toward the ULTIMATE goal. If I have more time in the day, I will either move onto my next task or I will have an early quit. Oh, and my lists are 7 days a week.

My personal list is actually prioritized, kind of. Chores that have a single asterisk are either chores that are automatically done every day or of least importance. Double asterisk means it is an errand. Triple asterisk, MUST get done at some point the day. These ones are not only triple asterisk but are written at the top of the paper, isolated and an eye sore. They do not fall neatly in line with my orderly list.

Truly, if my head wasn’t…

This all brings me to my most favorite part of my list. It’s the triple asterisk section. Reflecting back to my opening statement, “Yesterday does not exist tomorrow.” My husband and I have 4 beautiful grandchildren. We travel a lot. If we are fortunate to be within driving distance of them, it isn’t usually for more than 3 or 4 months. So, my triple asterisks are usually just for reminding me to FaceTime our grandchildren that day. Or make arrangements for another day in the week. This actually worked so well that our 16 month old granddaughter was calling me one her own. Everyday.

At least once a week I FaceTime our older grandchildren. We have an 8 year old granddaughter and an almost 5 year old grandson. Time…

What I am going to say next is not for you, it’s for me to hear. It is GREAT to be goal oriented, as long as you remember to stay family oriented.

Starting this new business, I will find myself getting caught up in the idea of keep plowing forward. Then I will take a look at the time. It’s almost 2, and I know our little granddaughter has already asked her mommy a thousand times to call me (she’s keeping her phone up now). So, close my iPad, shift some of my stuff from the desk to the recliner, make a hot cup of tea, and sit back and call that sweet faced, crazy mess.

One FaceTime ring, two FaceTime ring, three FaceTime ring…

“Hellooo my love…”

62,890,503. How can so many people be wrong?

In 2020, the U.S. population was estimated at 331,002,651 people at mid year. A survey published in 2018, stated that 36% of Americans are following a diet or lifestyle. Intermittent fasting was the top lifestyle followed at 10%, Paleo at 7%, Low-Carb at 5%, Whole 30 at 5%, high protein at 4%, and Keto/high fat at 3%. Combining Paleo, Low-Carb, High Protein and Keto/High Fat, the total is 19%, 62,890,503 people. How can so many people be wrong?

I have followed the Keto lifestyle for years. There are so many health benefits to eating Keto. Most Americans suffer from at least one of these health issues on the list.
Here are some of the benefits of following Keto:

  1. Weight loss/Decreased measurements
  2. Lowers Blood Pressure
  3. Healthy Blood Sugar levels
  4. Heals a body hurt by Colitis (I’ve witnessed this)…
  5. Resulting in healthy weight gain
  6. Relief from PCOS…
  7. Resulting in improved fertility
  8. Reduces Seizures
  9. Good HDL
  10. Improves Acne
  11. Balances Hormones
  12. Improved Heart health
  13. Therapeutic for several Brain Disorders
  14. Reduces Appetite
  15. Fat loss from Abdomen Cavity
  16. Triglycerides drop
  17. May reduce risk of certain Cancers
  18. May protect brain function
  19. Effective against Metabolic Syndrome
  20. Effective against Insulin resistance
  21. Improves bad LDL
  22. Effective treatment for Alzheimer’s

With Keto, the typical initial reaction is weight loss with in the first couple of weeks. After that, weight loss can slow but that doesn’t mean your body has stopped changing. Measurements and pictures are key to the Keto diet. There are thousands of testimonies of people’s scales not moving but their measurements go down and so does their clothes size.

Another benefit, you don’t have to run out right away and start exercising. In fact, you should wait to exercise while your body adjusts to using ketones for energy. This usually takes a couple of weeks.

I have found that Keto is great for weight loss, plus the food is delicious. You are not suppose to be hungry on Keto. The higher, good fat intake will prevent that. I find that most people don’t like to go hungry. It’s easier to change your lifestyle and succeed if you have a satisfied tummy.

“If we don’t start, it’s certain we can’t arrive” – Zig Zigglar

Go ahead, take the leap! Over the past few years, I have taken a lot of leaps. Some people have the ability to take life and just pivot or take a large step. For others, it takes a leap. I’m talking about standing at the edge of the pool, with your goggles on, ear plugs in, and your nose plugged. Eyes are so tightly shut, you look like a Shar Pei. You either have a friend standing beside you holding your hand, encouraging you gently or you have the crazy friend behind you, winding up like Sonic the Hedgehog, to launch you from behind. As a result, you will be on your path to change. What you do then is up to you.

With Leap, I’m going to encourage you in your endeavor, to becoming an all around healthier you through the written word, blog, reports, email, or carefully selected products. I love the picture above, a group of people working together to achieve a goal, knowing that getting dirty is just part of the journey to becoming a championLet’s do it together!
